Buick Regal Second Generation 1978 - 1987. General Motors produced the Buick Regal from 1973 to 2004. Unfortunately after 2004 production continues in China, which is another sad example of American jobs being hurt by the company sending production overseas. Of course the company isn't totally at fault. Unions have to take some of the blame with their demands for above average pay and benefits, which threatens to break American companies.
The Buick Regal is a mid sized car that has an excellent performance reputation. The interior of the Regal had a luxury interior with wood grain trim on the dash and doors and door pull >straps and comfortable seats.
The vehicle continues to offer the luxury interior and good performance. At first it had a 3 speed transmission but later came with an automatic. In 1978 the Buick Regal upgraded to a turbo charged v-6 engine with larger tires and sport wheels.
1977 BUICK REGAL Owners Manual In 1981 the Regal became a lot more aerodynamic enabling it to race in NASCAR. Richard Petty drove the car to victory making the car a favorite for other teams who also won races in the NASCAR.
NASCAR races helped made the Buick Regal extremely popular and is still a favorite today.
