Alan and Dale Klapmeier started the Cirrus Aircraft Company in 1984. They produced the VK 30 Kit aircraft, SR20 and the SR22. The SR22 comes with the option of anti icing equipment and has a maximum operating altitude to 25,000 feet.

They also plan to produce the SR Sport but for now these plans are on hold. Another aircraft planned by them is the Vision SF50 single engine jet. This jet is under production and should come out soon.

This aircraft is different from most others in that the yoke is place on the side. Also the plane is made almost entirely of aluminum.
Now a Chinese group who bought it in 2011 owns the company. They are keeping the quality of the plane in good shape and making a profit. These planes are still great and you can find older or used ones for sale on this page or at the link below.
